HOWARD SHUBERT

Appraiser of Architectural Drawings and Archives

Biography

 

Howard Shubert offers consultation and appraisal services - for purposes of sale, insurance, donation and estate planning - of architectural drawings, models, archives and collections.

Shubert was certified by the Appraisers Association of America (AAA) with a specialization in Architectural Drawings. He successfully completed a 15-hour course and examination on the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP), the congressionally-recognized set of appraisal standards promulgated by the Appraisal Foundation.


Shubert earned bachelor degrees in Economics and Art History from McGill University and graduate degrees in Architectural History from the University of Toronto.

Until 2011 Shubert was Curator of Prints & Drawings at the Canadian Centre for Architecture in Montréal where he played a key role for more than twenty years in building and managing the collection and in cataloguing and interpreting it for a wide audience via exhibitions, publications and lectures.

Howard Shubert is the author of Architecture On Ice: A History of the Hockey Arena (Montreal: McGill-Queen’s University Press, 2016).
